Selecting the RIGHT Candidate to Hire

Selecting the right candidate to hire is one of the toughest challenges that many of my clients are facing right now.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, this month there were over 389,000 jobs posted to hire which is more than double the jobs posted last month.

Moreover, this past week, I interview prepped 6 clients which is double from the week before.

So, I know from first-hand experience, my clients are both interviewing for new positions at a higher capacity and hiring employees more quickly right now too.

The uniqueness of this career marketplace is being felt on both sides of the hiring spectrum.

For the job seeker, landing the right opportunity that aligns with their post-pandemic core values has been top of mind.

For the interviewer, deciding which questions to ask during an interview to select the right candidate has also been a challenge as well.

And, in order to best serve both clients, I was curious to hear how many leaders are hiring right now.

In terms of hiring and selecting the right candidate to hire right now, I polled my audience and asked three questions:

  1. As a hiring manager, what questions do YOU ask in an interview?

  2. As a hiring manager, what do YOU look for in a candidate?

  3. When hiring a new employee, what is most important to you?

I received hundreds of responses to this poll. I collected the most helpful answer below!
